Green Tips for the Holidays in the Kitchen – Buy an oven thermometer and hang it in the oven where you can see it without having to open up the oven door, and it will reach the desired temperature sooner.   Bake your holiday cookies in batches, and cover your pots and pans while they are simmering to keep the heat in.  Pre-heat the oven only when the recipe calls for it, and turn the oven off five minutes early and allow your dish to remain there for a few minutes. Choose the economy settings on your dishwasher (air dry for example.)  The Gas Company has a $30 rebate on new energy efficient dishwashers until December 31.  Pick out a model and call us at (310) 371-7222 to verify that it qualifies.
