California’s Contractors State License Board (CSLB) recommends homeowners take these steps before selecting a contractor: 1) Check out the contractor’s license status at with CSLB, 2) Get at least three bids, 3) Ask for references on work done in the local area, and 4) Ask to see the contractor’s “Pocket License” or their representative’s “Home Improvement Sales Registration” and to see an additional form of ID so you can confirm their identity.  When in doubt, you can always call SBESC for information at (310) 371-7222.
