Components of an Energy Upgrade California home energy audit:   The Infra-Red Camera.   The quickest way to spot heat loss is to do a thermographic inspection with an infrared scanner or camera.    Sometimes they are used at the same time a blower door test is running because the blower door highlights air leaks through the building envelope.   Infrared cameras can spot lapses in wall insulation, the absence of insulation, and can also spot moisture in the walls, which could suggest roof or plumbing leaks.  The cameras can see heat loss around windows and doors, and can also be use after insulation is installed to make sure it has been installed correctly.  They can look from the inside out or the outside in.  Next week:  Air Quality Issues
