It’s already October and soon the weather will be cold enough to start turning on your gas furnace to keep your family warm.  For many cash-strapped families there will be difficult choices between spending the money on heat or other necessities.   Both Southern California Edison and The Gas Company  offer bill assistance programs to help families in need.   The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program offers income-qualified customers a discount of 20% or more off their monthly bills.  When you sign up with one utility, you are automatically signed up with both.  SBESC can help you find other assistance programs from the utilities, too.  Just give us a call at (310) 371-7222.
