Here are some basic safety tips for seniors from Southern California Edison: Have a battery-operated flashlight easily available at all times; place electrical cords out of the flow of traffic to avoid tripping; be sure that your electrical outlets and switches have cover plates to avoid being shocked by exposed wires; unplug small appliances when not in use; if you use a heating pad, turn it off before going to sleep.
